In north-east Hampshire, care-worker-cum-amateur-musical-star Ash is giving the performance of her life. Fifty miles away, cult film star and notorious playboy Joe is getting ready for yet another night on the town, but it’s no ordinary party: this time, he’s going beyond the horizon. Ash ends her night by letting co-star Rich rope her into running a gardening club at the exclusive rehab clinic where he works, while Joe is rushed to hospital, having been found at death’s door by best friend Yoni.
Joe is not at all happy when he wakes up at the clinic, but starts warming to his situation when he spots a quirky but attractive young woman toiling alone in the garden. One fine day he stumbles upon her, and she promptly sets him to work. Over the next two months, a bond forms between the pair as they tend the garden together, but sooner or later Joe’s going to have to go home. Will that be The End?

About the author
Hi! I’m RJ Rafferty. I was born on the outskirts of Belfast in 1981 and lived in Northern Ireland until I was eighteen. After a gap year during which I spent five months working as a volunteer in Mexico, I went to Edinburgh University, where I graduated in Italian and History of Art.
Since 2004, I’ve been living in Italy, where I squeeze in my writing between teaching English, translating and bringing up two kids.
Before now, I’ve written plays and children’s stories in both English and Italian. The Meeting Ground is my first adult novel, and I hope it will be followed by a further two books to make it a trilogy.
I translated The Meeting Ground into Italian myself (with a little help from my friends) – it’s also available on Kindle Store, titled “La terra d’incontro.”
